Evaluating a ship's efficiency potential

futureship eco chancesWith ECO-Chances FutureShip optimises a ship's fuel and emissions performance now. Why wait until bunker and shipyard prices begin their inevitable rise and possible future CO2 regulations start affecting your pocket book? FutureShip evaluates an entire ship, determines where improvements can help, and identifies those which offer a reasonable return on investment.

ECO-Chances is a complete engineering evaluation of a ship to determine its potential for energy efficiency improvements.Utilising advanced software such as FutureShip's dedicated flow simulation/optimisation tools and powerful parametric modelling tools together with years of combined ship optimisation experience, FutureShip's experts assess your ship from top to bottom to identify the most promising focus areas. The ECO-Chances evaluation includes:
  • Bulbous bow assessment
  • Evaluation of ship's hull (parametric)
  • Assessment with respect to resistance
  • Assessment of appendages
  • Assessment of propeller
  • Coating assessment
  • Evaluation of main engine layout
  • Machinery system assessment
  • Evaluation of heat energy utilisation
  • Identification and assessment of electricity, heat/cooling energy consumers (Sankey diagram)
FutureShip provides a report detailing the qualitative results of the above mentioned assessments, as well as an overview of the ship's current energy usage situation including Sankey diagrams. In addition, ECO-Chances provides coating selection recommendations, recommendations for appendages and propulsion-improving devices, optimised main engine layout details and estimation of optimal fleet speeds.

FutureShip recommends detailed studies of the three most promising energy improvement areas for the ship (if potential exists). These recommendations, which include estimates of potential fuel savings, investment costs, and return on investment, represent the starting point for FutureShip's ECO-Solutions consultancy service. Please refer to ECO-Solutions for further details.

FutureShip provides an evaluation of the entire ship to assure that no area of potential efficiency improvement has been left uncovered. FutureShip provides an overview of the current energy usage situation and recommendations for detailed studies of the three optimisations that will bring maximum return on investment.
